This course was originally published in 2007 with seven two-hour lessons. It was expanded to nine lessons and updated in 2016 with new formatting and finish. As with other courses in the series, this financial course emphasizes practicality and the personal problem solving skills that are so necessary to individual success. It is written for small group format where participants share and come up with their own applications. Simple and easy-to-read, the lessons progress from short passages to thought-provoking questions which simulate real-life situations.
It was written by Don Pratt, Ph.D. of the FIT staff. It is targeted at a low level to include those who have the most trouble managing money. It offers hope for those who have always had trouble with money. Emphasis is on reducing spending, increasing saving, basic budgeting, and avoiding pitfalls. Emphasis is also on Biblical principles of being a giving person, not just one that receives all the time.
Group Member Guides contain write-in space for questions, fill-in tables such as a sample budget and expense list, and write-in space for reflection on related scripture verses. There is a fun quiz at the end of each lesson. This Facilitator Guide contains all the material of the Group Member Guides, page by page, with additional helps, answers to questions, and suggested discussion questions.
These materials are especially useful in prison, jail, and recovery center settings but are also very appropriate for use in schools, community centers, and churches.
9 Lessons. 94 pages. Enough material for 18 hours of group discussion.
